I'm thrilled to share some exciting news—I've been selected as a finalist in the James Patterson Writing Contest, held in celebration of MasterClass' 10-year anniversary.

A Milestone in My Writing Journey

This means I’m one step closer to having my work personally reviewed by James Patterson himself—a true legend in the world of storytelling and publishing. To say I’m honored (and a little in shock!) would be an understatement.

The Contest Details

As a finalist, I now have the opportunity to submit a 5,000-word excerpt or outline of my unpublished book. From there, one Grand Prize winner will be selected by James Patterson based on three key criteria:

  1. Marketability

  2. Commercial Appeal

  3. Storytelling & Originality

Preparing for Submission

This is a huge moment in my writing journey, and I’m incredibly grateful for the opportunity. Over the next few weeks, I’ll be sharing updates as I prepare my submission. I will provide insights into my writing process and a behind-the-scenes look at the story I entered.

The Importance of Feedback

Receiving feedback is crucial for any writer. It helps refine ideas and improve storytelling skills. I look forward to the insights I might gain from this experience. Engaging with a legend like James Patterson is a dream come true.

Connecting with Fellow Writers

If you're passionate about books, storytelling, or following creative dreams—you're in the right place. I can’t wait to connect with you here. Sharing this journey with others makes it even more special.

Final Thoughts

This contest is not just about winning; it’s about growth and learning. I’m excited to see where this path leads. Stay tuned for more updates as I navigate this thrilling chapter of my writing career.

More soon,

Deanne (Finalist! Still can’t believe I get to say that.)
