Sometimes a Reader's Words Stay With You 🌱

Every once in a while, a reader shares something about one of my books that makes me stop and smile.

That happened recently when I came across a review on Goodreads. The reader had enjoyed the story, but what really touched me was that they'd taken the time to write down several quotes that had stayed with them.

Here's part of what they shared:

"This was a great story regarding how gardening and life are both a learning experience that needs patience, empathy, and forgiveness for growth."

I loved that they saw the connection between tending a garden and tending the relationships in our lives.

They also highlighted several passages from the book, including these:

“Tending to plants was a lot like peopling—you have to be patient, and give them room to grow.”

“It’s a reminder that from the smallest seeds, grow the most beautiful flowers.”

“We all have our gardens to tend, literal or metaphorical.”

Reading those words again, especially through someone else's eyes, reminded me how much of life really does involve planting seeds, giving things time, and hoping something beautiful will grow.

And let's face it, sometimes people require a whole lot more patience than plants!

As a writer, I spend so much time with my characters that I sometimes forget readers are having their own experiences with them. They notice things, make connections, and find meaning in moments that might stay with them long after they've finished the book.

That's one of the things I love most about sharing stories.

To the reader who left this thoughtful review, thank you. You reminded me why I love doing what I do.

And to all of you who take the time to leave reviews, send messages, or share your thoughts about a book, please know how much those little gestures mean.
